Greg sells coffee in a mud truck in Saint Marks Place. (Greg is Erik's friend so we went to visit him, and we got free coffee.) He is from Suffern, New York. Just a week ago he become 24. He went to Manhattan College and taught in school for a while. He is studying education in master's program now, but he does not go to school for this semester. He said he is earning more money than when he was teaching in middle school in Bronx.

Some really strange advertising with women hating concept were considered to be good for printing. There are examples from 1920's to 1970's in Gatochy's blog. People in those time era thought these concept would make consumers buy their products? I can believe it!

I thought I get paranoid a lot, and that might be a big problem. However, the mental health Web site PsychCentral did study about paranoia with 200 volumteers and they found 40 percent experienced paranoid thoughts during wearing virtual reality headsets. After I found this news in The New York Times I felt more comfortable that I am not the only one.

Former producer of materiality, Philippe Starck said, "...design is a dreadful form of expression…. In future there will be no more designers. The designers of the future will be the personal coach, the gym trainer, the diet consultant.” However, Bruce Nussbaum says "design is wonderfully alive and well—and evolving fast." As a design student I cannot more agree with him. I think that designing is giving new birth pretty much everything around us.

Sun Min Cha

I met Sun Min Cha on Friday in the east village. She is my old friend Kyoung Hwan's girlfriend. Sun min is a florist. She lived in New York for 1 year then went back to Korea for a couple years to finish college, then came back just 3 months ago. She studied environmental design in college. She in preparing to get in to master's program in New York. Sun Min has a younger brother who is in army service in Korea. She said they are really close and she misses him a lot.

terrible tragic on east midtown

Yesterday, 22 stories tall crane collapsed on 51st Street and Second Avenue. This tragic killed several people and many people got injured. Also, it broke people's living places. The crane was building a tall building and the company had pushed to build too fast. This terrible accident should not happen again. I hope every body who fixing this place do not get hurt during procedure.

Zyrtec logo

I saw the Zyrtec commercial on TV the other day. I think it is horrible logo, because it made me think of detergent. Zyrtec is a medicine for indoor and outdoor allergies. I think good logo should bring us the idea of the product or company from just seeing it, and it is very hard to make a good logo. However, if it appear to be a logo for some other products, I think it failed its intention.

The writer points out that Helen Kirwan-Taylor questioned about art and design with her article "Is This Art? Or Just Really Expensive Furniture?" at The Wall Street Journal. However, she did not give us clear answers and filled her writing with "what makes something 'art'," "because enough people start believing it"
Some People think design and art is different and something called design should have purpose and effective use. I agree with that art should not be easily called.

Some companies are producing phones such as the MO1, which are designed entirely for young children. Children are an attractive demographic for phone companies because they tend to treat their phones more like companions as they would a teddy bear rather than as a device with the purpose of placing calls. Phone companies have the official stance that no known harm will come to children through cellphone use, but parent groups and health organizations believe that more research is necessary. Many are even asking whether children should even be allowed to have cellphones.

Yi Fan is a graduate student at Pratt. I met her on the seventh floor a couple weeks ago. I was really sick so I was relaxing on the sofa. When Ina (Also a graduate student at Pratt) was sitting by me and taking care of me, Yi Fan came to Ina and they talked. Then, we exchanged our name and talked little bit. (mostly about my symptoms..) She is a Taiwanese girl and she is very active. A couple days later, I ran into her again and she asked if I am feeling better. I think she is very nice and caring person. A few days ago I added her as a friend in Facebook.

Strukton is planning to turn Amsterdam into a "big cake city." These days, there is a lack of space. Especially in cities, people need more space to live. Everybody wants to live in the center of the city. Strukton planned to solve this problem. Their solution is to use underground space as living space. For example, there will be different underground levels for parking lots, sports centers, theaters, and so on. Plus, the place is connected to the A10 ring road.

This article is about Wilhelm Deffke and the modern corporate logos.
Wilhelm Deffke was the person who made "the era's most impressive symbols for commerce and government, not the least of which became the most charged logo of the twentieth century, the Hakenkreuz (the hooked cross or swastika) — prior to its adoption by the Nazis." However, he never thought that the design used as a political symbol. He actually redefined a representation of the acient Germanic sun. The symbol swastika was taken by Nazis and never paid for.

In Deffke's essays — sermons to businessmen on the value of branding — he says,
"These trademarks and factory seals deserve our attention as a means of improving the public taste, and because of their extraordinary economic significance, ...Their value is in the millions and it would be a irreplaceable loss to the national wealth of any country, should they cease to be."
